Numerous brides have recently approached us with the same question: “Where do we start?” With all the different parts that comprise wedding planning, it can easily become overwhelming trying to decide what comes first. Most couples become stumped after going through the basics: style, budget, guest list, timetable, etc. The following tasks are listed in order of what we recommend should be done first: Hire a Planner For those brides that have asked us this question, they’re on the right track already! Hiring a wedding planner is this first step to planning a wedding, and can alleviate unnecessary stress encountered during the planning. More details on the importance of hiring a wedding planner are detailed in this post. Book the Venue Wedding venues tend to fill up very quickly these days and many venues host only one wedding a day, making it even harder to score your dream date. Once the wedding date is established, it then becomes possible to book and hire the other vendors involved. Another reason the venue plays a large part in the planning process is that it will set the tone for the entire wedding, including the style and atmosphere. Round Up the Professionals Prioritize vendor categories! For example, is photography or florals more important to you? Many top wedding vendors are hired over a year in advance and although some are able to double book, not all vendors offer this possibility. As soon the importance of each vendor is decided, start booking and signing those contracts! Shop til you Drop Although choosing a wedding dress is probably one of the most anticipated aspects of planning a wedding, the above are more time sensitive. Go shopping not just for the dress, but shoes and jewels! ...So what are you waiting for?? Get planning!

I have been a bridesmaid in a dozen weddings, add Kristin and Olivia and our count is closer to 5 or 6-dozen. Being wedding planners, who have done a bazillion (okay, maybe not that many) weddings, we have seen a bouquet (oh, yes, I did) of different bridesmaid dresses. Each bride has their own design idea, which makes it fun for us to ogle over the dresses when we see them. The four main fashions we have seen are: 1.) All bridesmaids wear the exact same dress-exact same color. 2.) Bridesmaids in exact same styles-exact same color, maid-of-honor in different style-exact same color. 3.) Bridesmaids in different dress styles-exact same color. 4.) Free-Style, bridesmaids are able to pick any dress they choose in the same color family. We have yet to do a themed wedding-but think it would be crazy fun!
