We thought their 1 year anniversary was the perfect opportunity to blog their awesome day! Oh, I just love this wedding – this couple – these families! One of our favorite places for couples to get married is at their family home. Whether that is a farm, a newly purchased house to make into home, or in this case a house at the shore (I’m sorry…down the shore) on Long Beach Island. Brenna’s parents (who are beyond fabulous people) have a gorgeous house in Brant Beach on LBI – this was where Brenna wanted to celebrate her marriage. They had celebrated so many great moments in that house, it only made sense they also celebrate their perfect day. And speaking of perfect day…the weather wasn’t as perfect as we had hoped. During the rehearsal the sky opened and it seemed like it was never going to shut - to the point where the island was starting to seriously flood (eeeekkk!!). The morning of the wedding the sun was trying to peek out of the clouds but it was inevitable that we were going to see rain. This is when I officially fell in love with Brenna. The sky was falling and her reaction was a shrug of the shoulders and a “whattaya gunna do?” You go girl! You handle rain on your wedding day (and a tented reception) with that much nonchalance and grace…you are officially my new best friend! I am so obsessed with this picture! If I was only to post one picture to describe this wedding...this one may be it! We snuck/broke into a small theatre and used the only light we could find...and this happened.... Oh, and this too... And then we got caught...but they turned the lights on for us and we took one more picture! The entertainment for the cocktail hour played to the beach feel (even through the rain) of Brenna and Greg’s day, a phenomenal Reggae Band – The Verdict. Oh, and a raw bar to boot – yes, please! The reception was flawless! Two tents flanked the house, one a clear top for cocktail hour, dancing and the bands and the other a gorgeous cloth draped tent with delicate chandeliers and long farm tables embellished with floral/candles runners for dinner. This was a celebration – a party – an event! If we could bottle up everything about this wedding, we totally would and NO we won’t sell it…we would keep it for ourselves! Cape May is a city saturated with 19th century, Victorian Architecture that drips with romance. I happen to be a tiny bit obsessed (ok, a lotta bit) with history, especially the Victorian Era, so Cape May is my shangri-la! Meredith and John had their ceremony at the beloved Cape May Bed & Breakfast, The Southern Mansion with the reception at the Hotel Alcott. It was a flawless day with fantastical skies, matchless weather (for July) and an abundance of southern hospitality. The Southern Mansion Meredith & John at the Hotel Alcott before they saw each other. John's family are Tennessee natives and brought the south to us yankees. It's been a long time since I have experienced that many altruistic people in one space. I just love this picture of the bridal party! We can not get enough of this fever for food trucks at weddings! Meredith and John had Kona Ice, a snow cone truck! Thank you Meredith and John for letting us be a part of your gorgeous wedding!
